Tycho - £45,000
Tycho is an amazing example of Vintage Heritage Narrowboat, that affords the exciting opportunity to own a truly unique piece of British inland waterways history , as she is the only Middle Northwich boat to retain its ice breaking ram!
Tycho was built by W.J. Yarwood & Sons in 1936 as a 71’ 6” long boat with a 4’ 6” deep hold and a rounded chines and a shallow V bottom. She was one of several Middle Northwich boats selected by the Ministry of War Transport to be shortened to 45’ with a 5’ ice breaking ram attached to the bow in 1942.
She is configured with three compartments, a traditional boatman’s cabin, forward hold and engine room that houses her beautifully maintained and presented Petter PD3M 30hp inboard diesel engine, which replaced her original Russell Newbery engine in 1958.
With her riveted hull, ice breaking ram and re-painted 2023, Tycho is a very striking boat and is bound to turn heads and draw attention wherever she goes.
